Biking Special: Two Options for a Ride

THM, your full service biking team, is offering tonight a choice of 2 fabulous bike rides: Option 1: A flat, 15-mile ride heading north through the heart and soul of Coles County. Departure time is at 5:15 pm from Midgate. Trust me, don't be late if you know what's good for ya. Option 2: The 25-mile duathlon route heading south of town through the scenic hills and dales of Coles County. Departure time is at 5:00 pm from Eastgate. Be sure to bring a light and a winter jacket if this route is your choice. No whining allowed. Safe travels! Grasshopper

Hell on Hills - EPIC!

Bike Ride tonite (Thursday, Sept. 13) leaving from Eastgate at 5:15 pm and doing the dualthon route (more or less) along with Denali and Stairway. It will be hilly and there will be blood...pumping. This group LOVES hills so the plan is to do Rosebud and then hook up with duathlon route at top of Drake hill. Depending on light, pain level, and Molly's whining for a Lemon Honey Stinger, we may try to get in Stone Bridge before heading towards the Kentucky route in reverse and the final assault.

It's crying time again....

Bike ride tonite (Wednesday, Sept. 5) will be --- duathlon route followed by Denali and then Stairway. Depending on how angry the peleton is tonite, we may modify the second half of the duathlon route and skip grasshopper hill, stone bridge, and west hayes and go straight to Lerna and head to the Kentucky route. That way we can get home before dark and before the hunger pains cause us to become "The Donner Party".

Duathlon Route Tonite

Bike ride on Tuesday (Sept. 4, 2012) leaving the fabulous Eastgate Bicycle Garage and Bike Rack at ~5:15 pm. We will be doing only the duathlon route tonite (25 miles).

Tomorrow night (Wednesday) will be the weekly "Ménage à trois" ride --- duathlon route followed by Denali and then Stairway. No Jerry, not THAT kind of Ménage à trois!

Bike Ride!

Meet at Eastgate at 5:00 pm for Wednesday's ride. We will be doing the duathlon route but breaking off towards the end to bike the Kentucky Route IN REVERSE. Yes, that's right sports fans. That way we get to go up Denali and Stairway to Heaven. Talk about fun!

We generally ride around 7:30, but the start time has been a bit flexible recently.  Also, for a few days, we are meeting at the fairgrounds and going north because of the fresh gravel on Hayes and beyond.  Let us know if you are interested.

Weekday morning rides canceled till next Monday

We continue to ride at 7:30 every weekday morning. Meet at Westgate.

Todd and I do 30 miles and Ellen does 25 miles.  We do four extra sections and then catch Ellen.  Thus you can average 18-20 mph or 15-16 mph, or something in between, by doing some of the extra sections.

Short notice -- but if any of you are available for a photo op today (Wed.) at 1:30 pm at the Share the Road sign on 14th Street north of Charleston, please meet me there. Herb Meeker is going to try to get a township or Sheriff's office rep to join us for a photo at the sign. He plans to run an article in tomorrow's paper. I will show up with bicycle and in bike gear, but I'd welcome more of you!

Regulators... mount up for a ride leaving today - April 24 - from Midgate.  We will put the rubber to the road at 5:15 and will travel north so as not to punish Judy (too much).  But if Judy can't make it... Bunny will choose the route (he still hasn't forgiven us for his overindulgence at Mike's party).

BIKE RIDE SUNDAY 1/22/12

Hi Cyclists:

Melissa & I are hoping to ride tomorrow, Sunday, at 1 pm. The temp is to be about 43 degrees, the wind is to be SE at 18 MPH. There is a small percentage chance of rain, later in the afternoon. She would like to ride SW, out Lerna way, because it is mostly flat, somewhat wind protected and has various distances for choices. This will be Melissa's second outdoor ride on the new bike and she needs a safe, fairly easy route--until she gets more confident. But, those who want more aggressive or longer rides can branch off and take any route desired. We could meet at West Gate (intersection of West Gate and Douglas) at 1 pm and go from there, if there is an interest. Feel free to comment, if you wish to reserve your place in this peloton.

YET ANOTHER BIKE RIDE! SATURDAY 1/07/12

It appears that there is an agreement for a bike ride at noon on Saturday 1/7. The miles and direction are negotiable, but I like John's idea of trying some of the new North North-West roads. I like the idea of under 50 miles, only because I am not in shape for mileage a lot longer than that. However, group majority should rule. It worked out really well last week, relative to multiple route options, for each rider's needs. Meet at Monroe Gate (Sheila & Lisa's house). Temp looks like 45 degrees with NNW winds at 9 MPH.

Spinning @ Bicycle Garage East

Meet at BGE @ 6:00 p.m. for spinning on Tuesday (1/3) .  We will do a 60 minute Spinervals session in a heated garage.  You will need to bring your own trainer.

New Year's Day, Noon Ride!

It is too windy to safely ride out in the open since this wind could literally blow you off the road.  I have no goals for distance. A couple of times up Hayes hill and around town a bit will be a good start to the year.  Meet at Westgate if you are a little bit obsessed. -Keith
